Our Recruitment Process
To ensure we find the best fit for our children and team, we follow a three-stage interview process:
-
Informal Meeting – an opportunity to learn more about you and share who we are
-
Safe Care Interview – focusing on safeguarding and suitability for the role
-
Formal Interview – assessing your skills, values, and motivation to work with children
We’re looking for people who are consistent, compassionate, and emotionally available—individuals who are ready to be therapeutic attachment figures in the lives of vulnerable children.
Training & Development
All staff receive a comprehensive induction and ongoing training throughout their time with us. During the six-month probation period, new staff receive a blend of formal training and hands-on mentoring to ensure they are fully supported.
🔧 Core Training Includes:
-
Safeguarding and Child Protection
-
Medication Administration
-
Fire Safety and Food Hygiene
-
Norfolk Steps (Behaviour Management & Physical Intervention)
-
First Aid Certification (if not already held)
-
Completion of the Staff Induction Folder
Staff are then supported to enrol on the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, a nationally recognised qualification tailored to their role.
Therapeutic Practice & DDP Training
We work within a Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) framework—an attachment-based, trauma-informed model. To support this:
-
All staff complete a 15-hour introductory course, Navigate, followed by
-
A 4‑day DDP Level 1 course (subject to trainer availability)
-
After 12+ months, staff go on to complete DDP Level 2, further embedding attachment-based practice
Our therapeutic culture is supported by:
-
Monthly psychiatry consultations using DDP principles
-
Monthly individual supervisions based on DDP
-
Daily keywork recordings written through a DDP lens
This ensures consistency and emotional attunement across all levels of care.
Staff Wellbeing & CPD
We use the principles of DDP not just with children—but also with staff. We promote open, reflective, and engaged relationships between managers and teams, offering a space for growth, feedback, and connection.
