Recruitment

We are always willing to look at CVs or hear from people interested in working within residential childcare even when there are no vacancies officially advertised. Please email Steve Halliley (Quality Assurance Manager) with any enquiries you have in regards to recruitment.

At Clover Childcare Services, we feel that having the right staff is a key component of being able to deliver high quality therapeutic re parenting for our children. We have a thorough three stage interview process which includes an informal meeting, a safe care interview and a formal interview.

We offer a comprehensive training package and commitment to all of our staff. During the induction and throughout the 6 month probationary period new staff receive training on how to meet the demands of their role.  At this point this may well take the form of mentoring or coaching from a more experienced member of staff in how the home runs, the daily processes which need to be followed and how to best meet the diverse needs of our young people.  More formal training will include the ‘core’ programmes of administration of medication, safeguarding/child protection, fire safety, food hygiene and Norfolk Steps (behaviour management and restrictive physical intervention).  During this time staff will also be supported to complete their induction folder with a view to then moving on to the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare as a bespoke qualification for the job role. Staff will also complete a first aid course if they do not hold a current first aid qualification at the time of employment.

Benefits at Clover

In the workplace, using the principles of DDP, this allows for the provision of open and engaged manager-staff relationships similar to those provided in healthy parent-child relationships. They also provide opportunities for learning about self and others in a manner that is not distorted by previous poor relational experiences at work.

We believe in a therapeutic approach to childcare and use Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) as our model of attachment based working.  All staff complete a 15 hour course, ‘Navigate’, as a precursor to DDP and then a four day DDP level 1 course (subject to availability of external trainer).  This ensures all staff are working in the same way with our young people giving a consistent approach to their care.  No less than 12 months after completion of DDP 1 (subject to availability of external trainer).  staff are required to complete DDP Level 2 training to ensure that the attachment based practice and the attitude we use with children is ingrained in staff. To ensure there are high levels of consistency, this practice is followed up with monthly team psychiatry consultations using DDP, monthly individual supervisions using the principles of DDP and completion of keyworking records on a daily basis which are written using the principles of DDP.
